Hello Everyone,
I’m the organizer for the North Shore LGBT Social Network. Before COVID we were simply a social group. As the pandemic grew more and more people contacted me for assistance in housing, employment, those transitioning, LGBT parenting and other queer needs. I directed them to various groups and organizations. Due to COVID the queer community has been isolated and disconnected. It has become clear to me that we need a centralized website of resources. The end goal would be an LGBTQ+ Community Center in the North Shore. A place where we can feel safe and where everyone is welcome. We could have a lending library of GLBTQ+ materials and pamphlets, a physical message board (for those without internet access) and meeting rooms for support for those struggling with substance abuse, those transitioning, new parents, coming out and even Saturday morning yoga. I contacted the South Coast LGBT Network (Secretary, Traci Welch) which has a community center in New Bedford. She offered guidance. The first step is in contacting all of the LGBTQ+ North Shore organizations: nAGLY, Project OUT, Beverly Human Rights Committee and LGBT Senior Social Connection. I’ve contacted all of them. We also need supporters, government and spiritual leaders on board. All the Best, Lane (she/hers)
